The Science of Sport: Cricket is a documentary that is split up into 6 mini seven minute long video’s, in the part above Cricket is explained through a variation of on video interviews, voiceovers and video footage, including digital footage of the sport, there is a theme running through the 7 minutes which is a documentary about cricket, the skills required at the highest level and how to improve the modern cricketer in terms of skill and fitness levels, right from the start it starts explaining about cricket with a narrator on the video which you can see, after a short period of time it cuts to the second type of footage which is a previously filmed section that has a voiceover, the video has been sped up so that more can be shown in the short period of time. Throughout the documentary the areas of topic that were outlined at the start are explained in detail mainly having a voice over, The voice over is good to have as it means the video can be seen whilst the audience are listening, this gives the audience a better idea of what the voice over is talking about.

What I could take from this:
- Interview with influential person to give an insight into the sport
- Voiceovers throughout so that relevant information is getting through
- Relevant video footage

Above is a wildlife documentary from ukTV documentary, the documentary is narrated by David Attenborough about Tigers, this is a good example of a documentary as it is a subject that is used a lot in documentaries, right from the outset you know what the documentary is about and who is narrating it through a title and into an audio clip of him speaking, this engage the audience with the documentary as you can see that he hasn’t just done the voiceover after but throughout the creation, this ‘introduction’ is good as it sets the rest of the documentary up for all that is going to be in it.
Throughout the documentary it is split up into slow moving informative sections and less informative fast moving sections during a chase scene between the tigers and the prey, usually during these faster paced areas the voice over throughout the documentary drops off to let the audience watch and concentrate more on what is going on.

What I could take from this:
- After a titles scene straight into the narrator or presenter will give the audience a face to face feeling for the rest of the documentary
- -Voice-overs throughout to keep the theme running through.
- Must be informative but also punchy and fast moving.

The documentary about Inside Mecca above is a National Geographic documentary about the pilgrimage to Mecca by Islam, it has the same codes and conventions as the others such as voice-overs and a running theme throughout the documentary, in this one it has archive video footage from years ago about what happened to start Mecca, this gives an insight for anyone who is watching, an interview at the start gives an insight into the view of someone who is influential there. Once this interview moves onto into the video clips the rest of the documentary is basically voice-overs, the documentary is good because it goes through all the stages of Mecca and why people want to pilgrimage towards Mecca, this is very informative to the viewers.

What I could take from this:
- Interviews with influential people of the area give good information
- Voice-overs throughout to keep the documentary flowing
- Cover many area’s throughout so that the viewer doesn’t get bored.

The documentary on Ancient Mysteries: Bigfoot is different to the other documentaries that I have already analyzed, straight away there is encounters with people who have seen ‘Bigfoot’ and are re-living what they saw and were on the camera, in-between this there is an interview with a man who believes that it is all in the imagination, this is giving the two sides to the documentary and leads onto which side is right, throughout the documentary voiceovers, tales of what has been seen, interviews and archive footage are cleverly put together to create a documentary with constant suspense, the non-diegetic spooky music behind the documentary creates the feeling of a mystery, which is what the documentary creator will have wanted, the pictures tales and stories keep the viewer thinking that the Bigfoot may exist, with statistics of hundreds and hundreds of sightings.
The documentary is cleverly put together to create the tense feeling with a real story about the Bigfoot.

What I can take from this:

-Depending on the documentary I decide to do, suspense is good for keeping the viewer interested.
- Interviews with accounts throughout by specified people
- Voice-overs Throughout.
- Many video shots so that the viewer can keep interested in the documentary.

Above is the start to the documentary by Jackie Chan named ‘Jackie Chan: My Stunts" Documentary, this is a good example of a documentary which has the star of the documentary, Jackie Chan narrating and speaking throughout the whole program, from the start you can see it is going to be a fast paced and enjoyable documentary through the house-hold name of Jackie Chan known for all of the big films that he has done and the first 40 seconds of the documentary were it is him showing off all of the martial art moves that he can do, it does into a profile of Jackie Chan and what he has done in his life which means that any of the viewers who don’t really know what he has done can find out, straight after this it describes all of the sections that are going to be in it including scenes from films such as ‘Rush Hour’, having him narrate and be in the camera shot throughout means that the viewer feels as if it is a documentary that is going to be factual, using the footage of films that he has been in and also recorded footage of how he creates his martial art scenes, and then being described afterwards by Jackie means the audience can really understand what he is about.

What I can take from this:

- Introduction to the documentary explaining what will be in the program.
- Voiceovers talking over what is happening in each section of the documentary.
